Mimétisme (MIMICRY)
1973 / 1976
SÉRIE MIMÉTISME RELATIF (RELATIVE MIMICRY)
From Photographs of women for calendars.
· Dorothée Selz poses and is being photographed as the “pin-ups”
· She draws with China ink, on a B&W impression, objects that her model wears or is surrounded by (Leather boots, lamppost…)
· She creates a diptych with both women, the model + herself
· She puts around the diptych a frame worked “like” a pastry
Relative mimicry is a humorous proposition about the fascination and/or the reject of looking like the “seducing woman” model.
Materials: Photographs on paper, wood support, cement, acrylic paint
Size: 35,5 x 60 cm (13.9 x 23.6 in.) each diptych
